I have not eaten at this location (I have at the 119th location once, and it was good), but have come for beers a couple of times. In my book, there's no better place in JoCo to get beer than Barley's if you want a great selection and knowledgeable staff. There have many, many beers on tap and plenty more in bottles and cans, ranging from lagers to pales and IPAs, stouts, ciders, you name it. The location itself is always clean and the layout is good (not changed since its 77 South days if you ever went there). Staff is friendly and efficient. My visits have been on Saturdays where there always appears to be a wait for tables during prime time, so do be prepared.

My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived at 1:50 and were given menus with brunch items which was only served until 2. Since neither of us were in the mood for breakfast items, we asked if the dinner menu would be available at 2 and the waitress told us no, that the menu with brunch items on it was used all day on Saturdays and Sundays. We both decided to order the club sandwich. When they came out, all look fine and I ate a quarter of my sandwich when I realized mine didn't have bacon on it but my husbands did (nice crunchy bacon at that). I asked the waitress about it and she apologized and took my plate. When she brought it back, my sandwich had been disassembled with soggy, undercooked bacon stuffed in the middle and haphazardly tossed back together. I'm not much of a complainer so I just let it go and finished what I could of my sandwich. As we were finishing up, a couple was seated next to us and were given dinner menus!! After the waitress told us that the brunch menu was used all day! Overall, between the bad sandwich and not being offered a full menu, we won't be returning. The waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the beers on tap, that is the only reason for 2 stars as opposed to 1.

We have frequented Barley's for years and were pleased to try this new location. Despite the incorrect hours on the yelp page (yes they ARE OPEN on Sunday), we managed to find our way in for a late lunch early supper (aka "lupper") and Barley's did not disappoint. My husband had his all time favorite - roasted chicken. Supple and delicious as always. My son had the children's fish and chips platter - AMAZING as always and a generous portion. I ended up finishing the uneaten portion. Barley's has always had great fish and chips. I ordered the burger and found it to be just okay. The flavor of the burger was average - lacking that chargrilled flavor. It came with good fixings but an average bun. For a brewery, I expect a decent burger to go along with the awesome beer selection. I also got a side salad that was just okay. Very bland dressing and average veg. Despite a few minor issues, we will return and I hope to upgrade my review in the future to a 5.

We went to Barley's one late night for some quick bites and it was awesome. They have a late night menu with decent choices. Not just some fried appetizer. We had their cracking pizza. Freshly baked and well seasoned. Def better than expected for an 11pm meal.

Had the opportunity to go on a date night with the wife while visiting family in Kansas City, who were gracious enough to watch the child. The menu offering of unique micro plates and small plates that varied from classic pub fair, fine dining and rustic American, drew our attention, as well as the large beer selection. Arrived at 8:00 pm and the place was pretty much dead, which didn't bode well, especially since a local baseball game was on. This place is designed for large crowds and it just felt extremely empty. But this might have been just based on the location, because my worries about the locals avoiding this place were washed away with the quality of the food. Ordered a micro-plate sampling ($6) as a starter. I elected for the house made pickles, which were spicy and tangy, but not as crisp as I would have liked; a tasty meatball and wonderful salt roasted beet salad. For my main entree I had a caesar salad ($4) and the slow cooked pork poutine ($9). Caesar salad was standard fair and nothing impressive, but nothing to complain about either. Poutine was great. House cut fries, with a plenty of pork and gravy. They deviated from tradition and didn't have cheese curds, instead using a few shavings of parmesan. Poutine isn't the same without cheese curds and the amount of parmesan left the dish lacking a bit in the expected flavor profile. Beers are reasonably priced, a nice selection on draft and bottle. Was glad to see they had Left Hand's Milk Stout with Nitro on tap, certainly added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Our 'go-to' for great food and drinks in the south OP area. Had the pleasure of being served by Haley - she was so helpful in pairing our entrees with local craft beers. She suggested a saisson (sp?) that I would have never ordered - but it was perfect! My wife and I love the Napa salad with grilled chicken, the Buffalo chicken wrap, and the pizzas.

Super friendly staff, lots of beers on tap, and delicious food! I ordered the kale superfood salad, with grilled chicken. It came with a ginger, soy dressing, quinoa, tomatoes, and blueberries--all fresh, with warm grilled chicken. We had a great experience. Be prepared for it to be busy!!

We don't get to go out for a nice dinner without the kiddo very often so we were looking forward to a nice meal to celebrate my gf's birthday. Unfortunately it's not exactly what we got when we went to Barley's in Leawood on Saturday night. We got seated right away, but the table was a two top between two four top tables in the corner of the restaurant. We decided to go back to the hostess stand and ask for another table. At this point there was a bit of a wait, but we didn't care we wanted another table. The two hostesses were awesome. They were sooooo nice about it and we got a booth in about 5 minutes. We ordered the fried pickles and they were mainly just fried batter. Before we ordered them we asked if the pickles were spears or chips and we were told by our server, Brian C., that they were spears. They were not spears they were the super thin deli sandwich pickles with so much batter (I took a photo of this) you couldn't even taste the pickle. For the main meal I ordered the 7 hr pork with green onion risotto and my gf ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. The risotto portion of my meal was very good, but the pork was super fatty (I took a photo of this). The buffalo chicken wrap was really tasty. Brian was an good server. A bit slow at times, but helpful with suggestions. When he saw the pile of fat on my plate he took it upon himself to buy dessert for us. Which was vey nice. I still wish a manager would have stopped by to just apologize though.

Fried pickles are off the charts. Blue Cheese Tenderloin is divine. This place has stepped up their game.

I can't believe I haven't done a review for this place sooner than today! I love Barleys and this location! From our own experiences, it's been nothing but great! I have never been disappointed with the food, the soups are delish! Flatbreads are tasty, brunch on Saturdays and Sundays are yum! Chicken fingers, wings, potato boats..... Sheesh I'm getting hungry. A good drink selection is evident. Our service has always been friendly, almost like family, (I need to check in more often) ok ok I come in once to twice a week and I'm not even sorry, I don't see us slowing it down anytime soon! Thank you Barleys for always giving us your best!

Pan toasted chicken breast was succulent. It was served with yukon potatoes, chunks of garlic and caper berries. It all blended nicely together and was a great dish. For a smaller portion I recommend the micro plate filet mignon (5 oz). It was served with over whipped cauliflower and fire roasted summer squash.... Mac and cheese was incredibly creamy. Service was attentive and though I haven't eaten at the other locations this one holds up to the standards that the other one produces.

Great food great prices and one of the largest beer menus I have ever seen. Their pub chips are so good.

Love Barley's. Was a patron of the 119th location and was thrilled to hear they were opening this location, close to my place of employment! Excellent selection of beer, wonderful food and great service. Looking forward to coming back again and again!

Great beer selection and nicely situated bar for watching sports. They have an extensive menu featuring something for everyone. The prices are on par with a gastropub but presented in a sports bar atmosphere... Other than the slightly high prices though, the food is tasty and nicely prepared. Loyal customers keep coming back for the constantly rotating taps with often unique and hard to find brews.

Ok, you can thank me later. Go at dinner, get The Windy City, "Chicago Style Deep Dish", and ask for "The Man Pie". It's the all meat, black olive, mushroom, and jalapeño with bacon pieces, and the marinara is commingled with wing sauce. It's incredible. $35 bucks, but it could feed 3 people. You won't be disappointed. This past visit they made it for me at lunch.

Had the "Thai Won On" flatbread - holy crap that was good. Peanut sauce, chicken, bbq. Awesome combo of sweet and salty. I also wanted to try the "Build your own beer flight", but they were hit by a long Labor Day weekend and were out of 3 of the 4 beers I wanted to try. I had to 'settle' for a bottle of Sixth Glass. :-) I will definitely be back!

Ok, so this is really two updates. We came here two weeks ago on a Friday night at 11 pm. Well, nary a car to be seen in the parking lot, and it looked like it was closed! I don't know if the situation was no patrons or if they closed that early on a Friday, but we kept driving. The next Friday, we tried again, as we were going to meet friends for after dinner drinks. So glad we did! This time, several people were here watching a Royals game. We sat at the bar (which is where I think service is always best) and had some great beers from the awesome tap selection! I also learned that much of the staff from 810 Zone has moved to this Barley's since 810 separated from KC Hopps. This was a nice surprise, as I loved a couple of the servers at 810 but don't plan to go back there. I always like the food at Barley's, so now that I have had a great experience with drink, service, and atmosphere, this will be on my Friday night list of options.

This was my 3rd time to this BB. I had the turkey blue cheese burger with a side of fresh fruit, and we split the blue cheese pub chips (app), and it was AWESOME! My husband had the 1/2 ribs and enjoyed them also. The beer was good, and although the view is a parking lot, we enjoyed sitting out on the patio enjoying the nice weather tonight. Great server, too. We ended up buying the Mug Club Membership & Guest Reward membership, as we plan to go back often. We hope it's worth it! Probably should've gone ahead and gotten them on our first visit.

I have a true love/hate relationship with Barley's. For some unknown reason I want to love them so much, but each time we get together I end up feeling cheap and used. Love what they did with the old Cheeseburger in Paradise/hipster doofus 70's joint. Looks very nice, clean, classy..everything you desire. They installed screens for the giant garage doors so you can have them open without the bugs taking over the dining room. So our dinner date started out great. Had a drink from their extensive beer list, nice conversation, but then we started eating. This is where things went south (77 South). The $14 steak sandwich was nothing more than a thin, tough shoe heel lazily slapped on a squished bun served with some room temperature forgetable fries. COME ON....you want to see me again don't you?!?!?! Around the table all of us had the same over priced/under delivered dining experience. Dinner ends and it felt like I spent double what I should have and left utterly unsatisfied. Like some bad relationships I'll likely give them another chance, but I'll protect my heart this time to avoid getting hurt again.

The prices are unbeatable. I get the deep dish pizza and it is delicious. Not an extensive selection of beers on tap, but a good beer selection overall. If you are looking for relatively cheap, but high in quality food, this is your place.

Good atmosphere to watch a game. The draft beer selection is full of area/regional craft brews. The Windy City deep dish pizza is awesome!

Being one of our favorite restaurants, we had a great time! The food was spectacular. Sadly, we all felt that our server, Derick, wasn't the friendliest or interested in making our night perfect. Simply, he got the job done. He almost seemed uninterested in us as customers. Because the food is so good, we keep coming back. The atmosphere is quite loud, also. This place seems to be attract a lot of single people.

I went here for lunch. I had the clubhaus with soup of the day (chili). The club was mediocre at best but the soup was really good. I had some of my girlfriends BBQ chicken pizza which I would highly recommend. Overall, a decent lunch with good service. Not to keen on location but now I'm nitpicking.

Very disappointing experience. They provide a beer menu, which is really not a menu as they typically only have 2 of 5 beer listed tapped. How disappointing is to see a rare favorite on the menu, and then be told "Want a drink? Psych!" Turns out the food menu is about the same. I love pretzels and rarebit, but the waitress told me that they are not serving that either. So apparently the motto of this restaurant is "Come on in and see what we won't serve you." Too bad. I had good memories of Barley's. Now they are only memories.

Love, love LOVE Barley's for HH, and now they have opened a new "haus" on 135th street! The service is friendly and prompt, and in addition to a great beer selection and fabulous bbq chicken flatbread, they have my favorite cider - Ace Peary - on TAP.

Great lunch venue - not crowded but just wait until everyone finds out they've opened. The burgers are amazing - they are big enough to split if you eat a light lunch. The staff was exceptional and they didn't mind tweaking the menu to suit your needs. Love this type of service. They truly care about the customer.

I have to say... I love the 119th street location have been going there for years and have always had a great expereince. I was excited when they opened up a location in Leawood which is much closer to me!! Wow! How dissapointing! Not even close to the level of Overland Park location!!! Rude bartending staff, rude management! I have never experienced such a lack of customer service and treated like a second class citizen... I will never return!!! There are so many more wonderful resturants surrounding them that truly appreciate your business... My recommendation... try some of their competition because they won't be in business much longer, don't waste your money on a business that doesn't care!!!

The best experience! We ordered the blue cheese chips (so amazing and not too overpowering on the blue cheese), four out of seven of us got the wood fired filet (one of the best steaks I've ever had), we got an order of chicken wings for the table which were so so good, and the kale salad was insane. The whole experience was great, from the food to the service. We will definitely be coming back!

Went there this weekend and had a great experience. The service was terrific, very knowledgeable about their beer. The look and feel of the restaurant was different than the other Barley's. The walls are old barn wood and they have stainless steel elements that gives the restaurant a rustic look with a modern twist. They have garage doors that can be open from the patio to the main dining area, but it was too hot to have open this weekend. Great place, great food, great beer! Highly reccomend.

Wonderful beer section and good happy hour deals. The even had a specialty Tallgrass beer tapped right at the beginning of the happy hour I went to. They also had a Tallgrass representative that day that explained their beers very well. I haven't had a chance to try the food but I will certainly be going back.

I really don't agree with the negs that have been written about this locaton. I've had terrific experiences at this new 135th Street location and I say "Welcome to the neighborhood!" The micro-plates are my new favorite. Along with the lighter fare menu, I feel like a real chef is in charge of this brew pub-- and sure enough, one is! Great service and impressive staff with a knowledge of which beer goes best with which dish. I plan to try the kale salad on my next visit.
